The Conditions feature allows you to make tasks in onboarding dependent on each other. A blocking task must be completed first before another task can be processed. The task waiting for completion is referred to as a waiting task. This helps ensure that important steps in onboarding are carried out in the correct order.

Example: Providing work equipment before introduction to IT systems

Blocking task: Providing work equipment
This involves handing over necessary work equipment such as laptops, access cards, mobile phones, or other devices to new employees. This task must be completed before the waiting task can be processed. -
Waiting task: Introduction to IT systems
This task includes setting up access to internal systems, email accounts, and tools, as well as training employees on how to use the systems. Since it depends on the provision of work equipment, this task remains in the "waiting" status (indicated by the crossed-out link icon) until all its blocking tasks are completed.

Configuration
Create a task or task template or edit it and select the option Conditions.
In the field Blocking tasks, you can specify the tasks that must be completed first before the task you are currently editing can be completed.

Link icon
The link icon indicates that a task or element is linked to another task. -
Crossed-out link icon
In the task list, blocking tasks are marked with a crossed-out link icon. Hovering over the icon shows a hint about the task that is blocking the processing of this task. -
Prematurely completing a waiting task
If you attempt to complete a waiting task without first completing the required tasks, a message appears stating that the task cannot be completed because it is blocked by another task. Additionally, the message lists the task that is blocking the waiting task and must be completed first. -
Completed blocking tasks
Once the blocking task is completed, the "waiting" task can be processed. Additionally, a checkmark appears next to the name of the completed task in the Dependencies section. -
Completing multiple tasks
When completing multiple tasks simultaneously, blocking tasks are listed in the "Not completed" section. -
Completing multiple blocking tasks one after another
You can complete blocking tasks directly within one view – without leaving the task you are currently working on.

Tip for task processing
Waiting tasks can be blocked by individuals who need to complete the dependent task first. Filter the task list by responsibilities and contact the responsible person. -

Finish automatically
If you have created a task with a condition, the task will only be finished automatically on the due date if all conditions have been met beforehand. -
Employee portal
If you have created a task with a condition and also want to use portal tasks for this task, this is not possible as long as conditions are set for this task.
The note can be found in the portal task option: "As long as conditions are set for this task, portal tasks cannot be assigned to the onboardee through this task."
